Make, Master, Matter (Best Advice)

by Yaynoc Talk on Feb.05, 2012, under Yaynoc Talk

Are you an avid fan of the ABC television show Shark Tank? Yes, I am! Shark Tank is among the best informative reality television shows today for innovative thinkers seeking investment capital from venture capitalists to further a product line. The Sharks also provides excellent advice or even some times indirect advice, especially in the event a Shark “is out” (not a viable investment for the Shark with the current product business or execution plan).

Nail-it advice: “Make it, Master it, & Matter” said venture capitalist (Shark) Daymond John in an episode. This advice has been by far the best all-around general advice applicable for any product line. Daymond John, self-made millionaire is best known for clothing line FUBU. Mr. John’s bio is available via this link: http://abc.go.com/shows/shark-tank/bio/daymond-john/276281

What makes you relevant?

by Yaynoc Talk on Jan.27, 2012, under Yaynoc Talk

When preparing and approaching the runway for the take-off, often simplicity is overlooked and the obvious is over-sighted as not being relevant. Many times the catalyst for movement is the belief that it must been done at a fast pace… hurried for the destination landing strip just to say Amen, “I have arrived”. However, along the expeditious flight, the importance of fuel is an afterthought and the aircraft abruptly crashes. So what does this all have to do with what makes you relevant? The power (fuel) lies within the understanding of “one”.

One:  Acknowledging the importance of this word (one) is the first step towards establishing a stable foundation. Building a house begins with the groundwork, therefore a house is only as great as the foundation it is built upon. On the other hand, music is only as grand as its fan base.

Subsequently, one fan builds your relevance.

Yet, one fan plus one fan plus one more fan makes you more relevant.

That is to say, understanding the power of…ONE FAN contributes to the successful journey of knowing what establishes your relevance, respecting each fan as if they are the only. It is simple. It is obvious.

We love the fans!

Executing the project plan is what it’s all about; a plan without action is useless. We are pleased the conceptual ideas of the new release are coming together. The next EP has been titled, the artwork has been decided upon, and video ideas documented. Excitement and inspiration is in the air as we pull all this together.

Teenage Paparazzo – HBO Documentary

by Yaynoc Talk on Oct.03, 2010, under Yaynoc Talk

Do not miss this documentary about celebrities watched and tracked daily around the clock and how photographs and information can be twisted and communicated inaccurately for a media story. However, the most amazing and unbelievable in this documentary is the work and life of kid paparazzo Austin. I saw this doc yesterday and found it interesting enough to give it some blog space today. Check your local cable listing for this one, but in the meantime, here are some clips courtesy of HBO.

Songwriting Article in Wall Street Journal

by Yaynoc Talk on Aug.15, 2010, under Yaynoc Talk

Wall Street Journal printed an interesting read in Friday August 13 edition of Arts & Entertainment section. Article “The Secrets of Songwriters” by John Jurgensen provided accounts of well-known songs and songwriters. Two things that rang out:
 1. It only takes one song to change your life: This statement I have heard before from artist / songwriter Sean Garrett as his own personal testimony and ironically John Jurgensen exposes the beginnings of songwriter Tom Douglas – a fascinating story. You might recognize the magnificent song “The House That Built Me” as one of Mr. Douglas’s number one chart toppers.
2. Demo version vs. Artist version & Male vs. Female vocalist: The article has both versions (demo & artist) posted for listening. After listening to both versions, the demo version of the male vocalist exemplifies ownership of the song. Emotions reciprocated throughout the entire song and it appeared not rushed. The final thought was perhaps it was just a personal preference of the performace of the song, but decided to preview the comments section of the article –  lo and behold! – a commenter mentions the same thoughts about the demo. What do you think? Preview the article at the link below.

Friday April 16th, 2010 they hosted another round of Music 101 titled Songwriting – “How I Wrote the Song.” This was a phenomenal event hosted by Catherine Brewton – VP, Writer-Publisher Relations BMI and a panelist of humble, dedicated, “truth speaker-Sean Garrett” and songwriters in the music industry.
The broad panelist spectrum spread from “the young urban and gospel songwriter” to “the best teacher is experience songwriter,” a magnificent approach for the audience. See below the roster and the BMI provided biography (click the PDF button).

A song can come anytime from anywhere, a thought, visual, or even while on ‘wifey detail” like gospel songwriter Jonathan Nelson. Mr. Nelson shared with the audience he was home cleaning when the song ”My Name is Victory” propositioned him and the rest is history.
Many other interesting and fascinating stories of “How I Wrote the Song” were presented and from YAYNOC REORDS we say Thank You for sharing!
